Apr 7, 2026The German Federal Police have identified Russian nationals Daniil Shchukin and Anatoly Kravchuk as the leaders of the GandCrab and REvil ransomware operations from 2019 to 2021.
During this time, they targeted at least 130 companies in Germany, resulting in over $40 million in damages.
After GandCrab's leader retired in 2019, a new operation called REvil emerged, targeting notable victims and engaging in data auctions.
Following a two-month break after the Kaseya hack, law enforcement breached REvil's servers, leading to arrests in Russia.
Shchukin and Kravchuk are believed to be in Russia, and authorities are seeking information on their whereabouts.
