The fake app was uploaded by a non-affiliated publisher and swiftly removed by Apple after user reports.
KuCoin froze the involved accounts temporarily, potentially extending it with law enforcement approval.
Ledger does not offer a Mac app on the App Store.
Previous incidents have occurred with similar schemes targeting other platforms.
