EOODApple's Quick Fix: Preventing Deleted Notifications from Lingering on Your Device
23 April 2026Apple released an emergency security update for iPhone and iPad to fix a Notification Services flaw that could store deleted notifications on the device.
The bug, CVE-2026-28950, was fixed in iOS 26.4.2 and iPadOS 26.4.2 and iOS 18.7.8 and iPadOS 18.7.8.
It was not disclosed if the flaw was exploited, but there were reports of Signal messages being recovered from iPhone notification storage.
Signal praised Apple for fixing the vulnerability.
Users are urged to update immediately and adjust Signal settings to prevent notification data retention.
Apple has not responded to inquiries about the updates.
