EOODMicrosoft's AI-Powered Security Updates: What You Need to Know
10 July 2026Microsoft is utilizing AI to discover more zero-day vulnerabilities in Windows, leading to an increase in security updates for customers.
The tech giant's multi-model agentic scanning harness (MDASH) uses several models to find novel vulnerabilities at Windows scale.
This new approach includes a dedicated cloud infrastructure for scanning critical binaries and validating candidates through a debate across multiple model families.
Microsoft is also updating its Secure Development Lifecycle (SDL) best practices to incorporate AI-enabled attack techniques.
However, human oversight will always be present to maintain the quality of updates.
While AI is seen as the future of vulnerability scanning, a study found that organizations relying entirely on AI automation for scanning has decreased due to concerns of critical vulnerabilities being missed.
Another study found that a large percentage of organizations run vulnerable AI packages with most fixable AI vulnerabilities remaining unpatched.
