Breaking Boundaries: Unleashing the Power of WSL Containers on Windows

Microsoft has expanded Windows Subsystem for Linux with WSL Containers now being generally available.
Users can access this feature by running wsl --update and utilizing the new wslc.exe command-line tool.
The integration also includes a WSL Containers API allowing Windows apps to interact with Linux containers.
Additional features added include restarting containers, file copying, health checks, network commands, real-time events, mount support, and configurable storage locations.
Microsoft has integrated WSL Containers with Microsoft Defender for Endpoint and Microsoft Intune for enhanced security and compliance measures.
They are also collaborating with the developer ecosystem to support tools like VS Code Dev Containers and Aspire.
The next big feature in development is Docker Compose-style support with "wsl compose up" being worked on.
Microsoft is also focusing on improving networking and file performance across different operating systems.
